2-Rider as Double Bike

Side-by-Side Bike

The 2-Rider is a 2-seater bike where cyclists sit side by side as opposed to one behind the other. This implicates 2 separate drive trains with 2 separate derailleur sets! The advantage in comparison to tandem bikes as we are used to seeing is that each of the cyclists can pedal and change gears independently and to their personal liking. Both riders are sitting in the front row so to speak and getting a great view of the road.

The co-cyclist is almost equal and doesn't have to pedal in synch with the other cyclist as he or she would have to when cycling with a common tandem. Of course only one person can operate the steering and the brakes. As with all bicycles with 2 seats side by side there is higher air-, frictional-, and rolling- resistance than with the common tandem. This disadvantage can easily be compensated for by adding an electric motor - therefore we recommend the 2-Rider electric powered with 250 or 500 watt!
